How do I use CSV files?

CSV refers to a file type for collecting and formatting data. They can be edited by importing them to Microsoft Excel or on Google Sheets.

Fill out the import template

Item details can be added in the columns of the CSV file. Fields in bold are required. The CSV file is in English, but you can complete most fields in any language.

  • Item name - your item's name e.g. shirt

  • Variations - name and create simple item variants e.g. small, medium, large

  • Option set 1, 2, 3, 4 - name and create more complex variant categories with multidimensional variants e.g. size, colour, material

  • Option 1, 2, 3, 4 - if creating multidimensional variants, enter the specific variant options. These will combine automatically to show the fully array of options e.g. (size) small, medium, large; (colour) red, blue, green; (material) cotton, corduroy, denim

  • Is variation visible (Yes/No) - for multidimensional variants created with option sets, show variants by typing "Yes" or hide them with "No"

When creating variants, add them one row below the original item row.

  • Price - the current price of your item or variant

  • Tax rate (%) - the tax rate applicable to this item or variant

If you're using item variants, only enter the above information in the row corresponding the variants and leave the item row blank.

  • Track inventory? - track item or variant stock levels by typing "Yes" or choose not to with "No"

  • Quantity - the quantity of an item or variant initially in stock. This field is required if inventory tracking is enabled

  • SKU - a unique stock keeping number for tracking individual items or variants

If you're using item variants, only enter the above information in the row corresponding the variants and leave the item row blank.

  • Description - a description of the item for use with Invoices

  • Category - the name of the item category your item should be saved in

  • Display colour in POS checkout - colour code how items appear at checkout. Choose from the following options, writing the name in English as follows:

    Light red
Dark red
Pink
Orange
Light green
Dark green
Yellow
Light blue
Dark blue
Purple
Grey
Black
  • Image 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 - add up to 7 images by including a URL for each image

If you're using item variants, only enter the above information in the row corresponding the variants and leave the item row blank

Once you’ve made your edits, be sure to save the file in CSV format via Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
