iOS Devices
We are continuously testing more smartphones and tablets to give you a clear answer on whether your device is compatible with our card readers. Most up-to-date iOS devices should work with our SumUp Plus Card Reader.
What is my iOS device model?
The easiest way to identify which model you’re using is by looking at the model number written on the bottom of the back of your device right above the regulatory markings.
To find the iOS version installed on your device, go to “Settings” > “General” > “About”. The number displayed in the line “Version” is the iOS version installed on your device. To be compatible with the SumUp app, we require an operating system iOS 12 or higher.
In case the version displayed is lower than 12, please go to “Settings” > “General” > “Software Update” and tap “Install Now”.

Below you can find a list of the most used Android devices in the US. If you’re having trouble identifying your device check “Settings” > “About Device” and look for “Device Model”.
What is my Android device model?
To find the Android OS version installed on your device, go to “Settings” > “About Device” > “Software Information”. Scroll to “Android Version” and the version listed next to it is your software version (e.g. 9.1).
In case the version displayed is lower than 9 please open your device’s “Settings” > “About Device” > “System Updates” or “Software Updates” and choose to update to the latest software version.
Please note, that not every Android device can be updated to OS 9 or higher. To check if OS can be updated, visit gsmarena.com. Enter the name of your smartphone or tablet into the search bar and a detailed description of your device will open. Look for “Platform” and then “OS”. If your device is upgradeable to 9 or higher, you’re good to go.
