How verification works
After signing up, log in to your SumUp profile via a web browser or the app.
Select the verification banner at the top of the screen and follow the instructions to scan your ID, submit a selfie and get verified.
In some cases, we may contact you to request additional documents needed to complete verification.
Additional verification documents
If necessary, we'll email you to request some of the following information. Either upload your documents or attach them as a reply to the verification request email we sent.
ID - official government-issued photo ID such as a passport or driver's license
Fictitious name and/or tax certification - if you don't operate under your own legal name, you'll need to provide a "Doing Business As" (DBA) or fictitious name certificate
Tax certification - if you don't use your social security number as your business's tax ID, you'll need to provide an IRS-issued Employer Identification Number (EIN) letter
Proof of home address - e.g. utility bills, bank statements or a rental agreement dated within the last 90 days or legal government ID
Proof of business activity - e.g. business invoices, scans of business cards or business photographs
Ensure all documents are clear, valid and bear the name of the registered SumUp profile owner. Unclear or invalid documentation could prolong the verification process.
