How do payments via QR codes work?

It’s simple:

  1. Once it’s time to checkout, the customer can use their smartphone camera to scan the QR code. From here, their device will automatically open a secure link.

  2. The customer will then enter the amount owed and fill in their card details directly from their device. A confirmation screen will appear when the payment has been processed.

  3. Easily confirm the payment from the customer’s device, or check your sales history within the SumUp App on your tablet or smartphone to ensure you’ve been paid.

How can I set up a QR code for my business?

In just a few steps you will be up and running:

  1. Login to your free SumUp App and navigate to the QR Codes section on the Home screen.

  2. Tap “Create QR code”

  3. Give your QR code a name, fill out the description, and set a price if necessary. Tap “Save”.

  4. To print and display your QR Code, simply choose the option to print your shop display in the app.

  5. You will see a preview of your display as a PDF. Click on the share button, to either directly print the display on a printer connected to your phone or send the display to your email address to print it from a desktop computer.

You can also send the QR code to your customers via email and SMS message.

Can I include a QR code in a document or design of my own?

Yes! Here’s how it works: 

  1. In the list of your created QR codes, select the code you’d like to use.

  2. In the action sheet choose “QR Code”.

  3. You can now send the file to the device you want to use to create your design. 

What are the fees?

With SumUp, you never have to worry about meeting monthly minimums or paying for hidden fees. Simply pay 3.25% + $0.15 per QR code transaction, and that’s it.

Can I use a QR code more than once?

Yes! You can use the same QR code to accept an unlimited number of payments. QR codes are active until you delete them from your list of created QR codes. You can also use the same QR code in several places at your business. For example, at every table or seat, on your counter, or in your shop window.

How do I send my customers a receipt when they pay with QR code?

If you want to send a payment receipt to your customers, open the transaction history on your SumUp App. Now select the respective transaction and click on the extended menu. From there, you can send the receipt to your customer by email or SMS.
