Blocked Device

To protect your card reader from manipulation, every SumUp Card Reader is embedded with technical safety mechanisms. Therefore, please make sure to handle your Card Reader with care. Once the safety mechanisms are triggered, the device will be permanently disabled and can no longer be used. Prolonged heat, cold temperatures, and external force or hard impact (for example, falling on the ground) can all trigger the mechanism. 

Should this happen, the message “Device blocked” will appear on your card reader’s screen and your device will need to be replaced. In this case, please contact our Support Team.

Warranty

SumUp warrants that on delivery and for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of delivery, the card reader shall be free from any material defects in design, material, and workmanship in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions.

SumUp shall not be liable to grant any warranty for the card reader in the following cases: (i) If the claim is occurring later than twelve (12) months after the date of delivery; (ii) if the defects are due to improper use of the card reader by the merchant; and (iii) in case of “NTF” (no trouble found).

In addition, the legal stipulations shall apply.
