If you're curious about the warranty SumUp offers on its card readers or wondering what to do should your device become disabled, read the following article.

Blocked device

To maintain the security of your card reader, it’s been equipped with safety mechanisms that will permanently disable the device if triggered. The mechanisms can be activated by an external force or impact, such as dropping it on the ground. Please handle your reader with care to avoid triggering the safety mechanisms as it can no longer be used after they have been set off.

Should this happen, the message “Device blocked” will appear on your card reader’s screen and your device will need to be replaced. In this case, please contact our Support Team.

Warranty

SumUp warrants that on delivery, and for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of delivery, the card reader shall be free from any material defects in design, material and workmanship in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions.

SumUp shall not be liable to grant any warranty for the card reader in the following cases: (i) If the claim is occurring later than twelve (12) months after the date of delivery; (ii) if the SIM card of the reader has been removed; (iii) if the card reader has been opened or interfered with in any way; (iv) if the defects are due to improper use of the card reader by the merchant; and (v) in case of “NTF” (no trouble found).

In addition, the legal stipulations shall apply.
