1- Is the SumUp POS system compliant with regulations imposed by the financial institutions?

Yes. The SumUp POS system is entirely compliant with all regulations imposed by the Irish financial institutions. By providing periodic updates to the software we can and will always maintain that status. In case of an financial examination you can easily export the detailed transaction data from your POS Cloud account.

 

2- In which countries is the SumUp POS system available?

The SumUp POS system is currently available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and in Ireland.

 

3- Does the POS software also run on Android?

No. The SumUp POS App only runs on iOS. An iPad of the 3rd generation or later is required.

 

4- Does SumUp offer on-site support?

No. The SumUp POS system can be set up and used without any technical knowledge. You will receive a welcome call and periodic calls from our support to solve your questions. Furthermore, you can reach our customer support team from 9am to 6 pm Monday through Friday at 01 697 16668.

 

5- Can the POS system also be used with mobile data?

Yes. The SumUp POS system can also be used with a LTE iPad. Depending on your usage patterns a data volume of around 300MB per month should be sufficient.

Unless you want to accept card payments while using the mobile POS system, you will not need an active internet connection at all. You can still accept cash payments in the offline-mode. All transaction data will be synched once the internet connection is restored.

 

6- What happens if my internet connection breaks?

Thanks to the Offline Mode of our POS system you can continue your work undisturbed if your internet connection breaks.

In the POS App a small symbol will notify you the POS system's status. All transaction data will be cached on your iPad and synched with the Cloud once the internet connection is restored. Card payments can not be accepted while being in the offline mode. More information on this matter can be found here.

 

7- Is there a test mode for employees?

Yes. Upon delivery, the POS system is in a test mode. You can conduct as many transactions as you wish without them being logged in your financials. Card transactions can not be reversed.

 

8- Where is my data stored and how secure are the servers?

There are two servers in Germany. Backups to these servers are processed periodically. The data transaction to the servers are highly secure. Both servers (and all data) are physically protected by security personnel.

 

9- How does SumUp save my data and are they tamper-proof?

All transactions are logged with its according date/time and backed up on our data servers. All changes in the master data are also entirely documented and therefore tamper-proof.

 

10- How can I change my bank account details for the card payments?

If your bank account details change please notify our customer service. We require proof of the actual change, which you can discuss with our customer service agents during the phone call.

We will notify you in an email as soon as the account data has been adjusted.
