Getting started with Mobile Payments

With our Mobile Payments feature, you can share the payment link from any transaction to get paid.

Whether you share it via email, WhatsApp, alternative messenger platforms or even via a scan of your business' QR code, this additional payment method will reduce queue times and offer your customers another payment method.

Who is eligible to use Mobile Payments?

Mobile Payments is available to many businesses, however, there are some we cannot support:

Restricted businesses*
  • Alcohol sales
  • Bars/nightclubs
  • Currency exchanges (digital)
  • Debt collection 
  • E-cigarette sales
  • E-voucher merchant models 
  • Online pharmacies
  • PPI claims
  • Tattoo studios
  • Tobacco products 
  • Telemarketing
  • Unlicensed ticket agencies
  • Marijuana/CBD and other related products
  • Adult entertainment and other related services

What are the business requirements?

To protect you and your customers, there are some requirements for you to fulfil before you can use Mobile Payments.

When submitting a request for Mobile Payments, please be aware that you will need to have a strong proof of your business’ online presence. Please provide us with links to your business’ online presence such as websites or social media.

We can verify your business with any of the following documentation:

  • Business registration number
  • Employer Identification Number/Copy of Employer Identification Number letter
  • Registration documentation issued by the official authorities
  • Annual business tax returns

Important

These documents need to be issued in the applicant’s name or we will require a Power of Attorney for the person named in the application.

What does it cost?

For every transaction with Mobile Payments, we charge a flat fee of 2.95% + 0,25 GBP/ 0,25 EUR. There are no other costs for using this service.

How do I sign up for Mobile Payments?

If you have a business we can support, and you have the documentation ready, then let's get started.

  3. Fill out the Mobile Payments application form that we’ll send you and send it back to us.

  1. Send your request for Mobile Payments to the Support Team from the email linked to your SumUp account.
  2. Fill out the Mobile Payments application form that we’ll send you and send it back to us.

After we’ve reviewed your application, we’ll notify you of our decision.
