SumUp iOS App: Product Catalog

The Product Catalog lets you create set products and shelves so you can manage your entire inventory in one place, making your transactions even faster.

Note: The Product Catalog is only available within the iOS SumUp App. If you have Android, please check this article.

The Product Catalog

Within your Product Catalog, you can create and manage your products.

Enabling Product Catalog

To enable Product Catalog in your SumUp App, tap the settings symbol Default.pngin the bottom menu bar and switch on the toggle next to “Product Catalog”.

How to take payments with the Product Catalog on
  1. Log in to your SumUp App using your account details.
  2. If the Product Catalog has been enabled, the app will automatically open to the “All products” screen where you can select or search by category and then by product for a quick auto-fill of price and description of the product for which you are about to take a transaction.
  3. Tap on the product. If you have more than one assortment of this product, select the version of the product you’re about to sell.
  4. The product is now saved in your cart, which you can find in the at the bottom of the screen. You can then add more products to the sale by going back to the “All products” screen or checkout by clicking the “Charge” button.
  5. The “Payment methods” screen will appear.
  6. Let the customer pay by card, contactless or cash if you’ve enabled it. If you’d like further information about how to enable and take cash payments, click here or about taking card payments, click here.
  7. Done! You’ve successfully transacted utilising your Product Catalog.

The Cart

The cart shows the names, quantity of products, VAT (if enabled) and is the checkout centre of the app.

To access your cart
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left).
  2. Tap the shopping cart symbol near the bottom of the screen to view the items in your cart.
To edit your cart
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left).
  2. Tap the shopping cart symbol near the bottom of the screen to view the items in your cart.
  3. You can add or remove the quantity of an item by selecting it and increasing or decreasing the quantity by using the “+” and “-” symbols.

Managing your Products

Optimise your product catalog by adding, removing and editing products and the assortments of your products.

Create a new product

To get started with the setup of your Product Catalog,

  1. Make sure you’ve enabled your Product Catalog by following the steps above.
  2. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  3. Select the edit symbol in the top right and then in the bottom left you can select the option “New product”.
  4. A window will pop up, allowing you to enter the product name, upload a picture of the product (optional), assign a price and label and add an assortment if you have multiple versions of the same product.
  5. Should you have multiple versions of the same product, and wish to enter additional version names as well as prices for each version, enter them individually in “Add assortment”.
  6. You can select a tax rate for the product. If you wish to edit the tax rates, look at the guide Managing your Taxes below.
  7. If you are satisfied with all of the product details, tap the tick at the top right-hand corner to save the product.
Move a Product
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  2. Then search for the product in the top search bar or within its respective category.
  3. Once located, tap the product and the “Edit Product” screen will appear.
  4. In the second field, you can change the category to which your product belongs.
  5. To confirm this change, tap the tick in the top right-hand corner and the product will be saved to the category selected.
Edit a Product
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  2. Then search for the product in the top search bar or within its respective category.
  3. Once located, tap the product and the “Edit Product” screen will appear. From here you can edit the name, category, image, label, price and tax rate of the product.
  4. Once you’ve made the desired edits, tap the tick in the top right-hand corner to confirm the change(s).
Upload/Edit a Product Picture
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  2. Then search for the product in the top search bar or within its respective category.
  3. Once located, select the product and the “Edit Product” screen will appear.
  4. Tap the image of the product and you will be given the following options:
  • Choose from library: This enables you to select an image from your device's
    photo library.
  • Capture photo: This option lets you directly take a picture for the product.
  • Remove image: This deletes the current photo for the product. Note: You can remove the image and still keep the product in your inventory.
Delete a Product
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  2. Then search for the product in the top search bar or within its respective category.
  3. Once located, tap the product and the “Edit Product” screen will appear.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, tap “Delete Product” and the product will be removed from your Product Catalog.

Managing your Categories

The Product Categories section allows you to organise your products by grouping them into categories of your choice for easy selection during checkout.

Create a New Category
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  2. Then tap the edit symbol in the top right and then in the bottom left you can select the option “New Category”.
  3. A window will pop up asking you to name the category. Enter in the name for the category and tap “Done”.

This category will now be an option for you to move your current products to or for new products.

Edit a Category’s Name
  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  2. Select the category you wish to rename.
  3. A window will pop allowing you to edit the category name. Amend the name as desired.
  4. Select “Done” when finished and the new category name will be saved.
Delete a Category

To delete a category (and consequently, all of the products within it):

  1. Tap the Sales symbolDefault.png(far left) to open your Product Catalog.
  2. Select the category you wish to delete.
  3. A window will pop allowing you to edit the category name. In the window, you will also have the option to delete the category by selecting the word “Delete”.
  4. Once you select “Delete”, the category and all of the products within the category will be deleted from your Product Catalog.

Managing your Taxes

The Taxes area allows you to manage your VAT rates. Note: to enable and/or edit VAT, you must first have your Product Catalog enabled. (See above for a guide on how to do so.)

Setup VAT
  1. Tap the settings symbolDefault.png, make sure that the Product Catalog toggle is switched on and then select “Taxes”.
  2. By default, the local VAT rate will be automatically set in the first line. Should you wish to edit the default VAT rate, tap “Edit” in the top left corner and enter the rate desired. This VAT will be selected for new products or manual items by default. From here you can also create other VAT rates by entering the percentage on the right and the name of the tax on the left.
  3. Tap “Done” once you’ve finished setting the VAT rates desired.
Edit VAT
  1. Tap the settings symbolDefault.pngand select “Taxes”.
  2. Select the sales rate you wish to edit and amend the percentage or name as desired.
Delete VAT
  1. Tap the settings symbolDefault.pngand select “Taxes”.
  2. Select the sales rate you wish to delete.
  3. Confirm selection by tapping the minus symbol and the VAT rate will be deleted.

Note: Ensure that the VAT you wish to delete is not linked to any product nor is it the default VAT as the default VAT can only be amended and not deleted.
