Create a credit note

Credit notes can be created from existing SumUp invoices or created independently instead. Independent credit notes shouldn't be used for invoices made using SumUp.

  1. Log on to your SumUp profile on a web browser and click on the "Invoices" tab in the left navigation panel.

  2. Select the invoice you want to void, partially or completely.

  3. Click the three dots at the top right of the screen.

  4. Select "Create" and then "Credit Note".

  5. Remove items customers should still pay for by clicking the three dots beside an item and then click "Delete Line".

  6. Once the credit note is ready, click on "Save" to save it as a draft credit note, or on "Complete" to finalise the credit note.

Once completed, your invoice’s status will automatically update to "Paid" or "Partially paid".

You can now optionally download or print your credit note. Alternatively, hit "Send" and enter relevant email addresses to send the credit note to your customer.

Edit a completed credit note

  1. Log in to your SumUp profile on a web browser and click on the "Invoices" tab.

  2. Select the "Credit Notes" section.

  3. Open the credit note you want to edit.

  4. Click on the three dots at the top right of the screen then "Edit".

  5. Edit the relevant information and click "Save".

You can then print or download the updated credit note or send it to your customer’s email by clicking "Send".
