How verification works

After signing up, eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) will verify both your address and identity. Most businesses are verified automatically through this process.

If you can't be automatically verified, we'll contact you to request additional documents.

Additional verification documents

If asked to do so, you'll need to submit photo ID, such as the picture and signature page of your passport or both sides of your driver's licence, for this.

You can upload documents to your SumUp profile to prove your identity. All documents must still be valid and bear the name and an image of the registered SumUp profile owner.


Additional documents may be requested later in the onboarding process. For example, proof of business activity such as invoices, business cards, company website, etc.
